World Blood Donor Day at ATLAS!

World Blood Donor Day is day dedicated to "thanking and celebrating voluntary non-remunerated blood donors". The theme of 2012 world blood donor day campaign-"every blood donor is a hero" focuses on the idea that every one of us can become a hero by giving blood.

The World Blood Donor Day was observed at ATLAS Hospital, Ruwi through a Blood Donation Camp. The event was organized in association with Department of Blood Service, Ministry of Health. The camp witnessed around 70 donors comprised of Omanis, expats and ATLAS employees.

During the course of the year we have held special camps on various occasions such as our Anniversary, Omani Women’s Day, Renaissance Day, etc. The enthusiastic participation of our donors was inspirational and never gets old. One of them commented, “Giving is joy. When you save a life this way you become a hero.”

“I'm glad that many have visited our hospital to celebrate WBDD. Raising awareness of the need for safe blood around the world is always on our agenda. We wish to encourage healthy, eligible individuals to give blood regularly and to thank and honor those donors who make safe transfusion possible.” said Dr. M.M. ATLAS Healthcare Oman lift Hospital Cup!

ATLAS Healthcare Oman won the Oman Private Hospitals Cricket Cup defeating Star Care Hospital by 45 runs in an exciting final match played at The Sultan School Ground!

Batting first, ATLAS Healthcare posted a score of 75 runs with Satavel top scoring with 38. In reply, Star Care managed to score 30 runs but kept losing wickets.

The tournament was sponsored by ATLAS Healthcare as well as four other hospitals.

“Badminton” Manoj wins Inter-College Men’s Doubles Trophy!

Manoj, a senior team member at ATLAS and consistent top performer, not only excels in his professional duties but also excels in the athletic arena. He recently teamed up with Rakesh to claim the men’s doubles trophy in the 9th CCA Cup Intercollegiate Alumni Badminton Championship. Manoj and Rakesh of the Cochin University College (CUSAT) beat James and Rohit of Kozhencheri St. Thomas College 22-20, 21-16. Fifty eight teams representing thirty eight college alumni associations in Dubai took part.

Manoj is a well-rounded individual and is no stranger to badminton. A nimble and agile athlete, he has competed semi-professionally back home in India. And in his youth, Manoj played badminton at a national level representing his college. His many wins soon earned him the affectionate name “Badminton Manoj” in his hometown of Alleppey. If not for an unfortunate motorbike accident Manoj would have continued to play professionally. However, his wounds have healed, his spirit is steadfast and his skill is unquestionable.

Our heartiest congratulations to Manoj for winning the tournament and we hope to see more trophies in the future!
